I’m planning a winter mountain biking vacation. Well, more of just a mountain biking trip for the weekend to, of all places, Cleveland, Ohio. When did Cleveland become a destination for mountain biking? Just a couple of years ago due to Ray’s MTB, indoor mountain biking.

Oh, sure, there’s always the tried and true mountain biking destinations, like Moab and Crested Butte. But the midwest is burried in snow this time of year. And Ray’s is a unique attraction.

Dennis is planning the road trip for his mountain biking group from Traverse City, MI and invited me, and anyone else from the Rockford, IL mtb club to join them on the road trip to cleveland. Looks like at least one other taker so far, maybe two, for the haul down in late January. But it’ll be worth it to dust the snow off the bikes and load’em up on the car rack.

Now that the TrailTapes video podcast has been included in the iTunes directory, I’m thinking of expanding the show. More like an evolution, really, from just a helmet cam clip, to more of a program. Start with an intro and an interview, then maybe a musical guest. I’ll try to get an interview with Ray and show some footage of the mountain biking trip for sort of a guided tour of the indoor mountain biking facility he has created.
