Winter has up and smacked us in the face. 0 degrees this morning and not much warmer by afternoon. After my hand freezing at the last Rock Cut ride, I picked up a few chemical toe warmers at the hardware store over the weekend to keep the tootsies warm. Gotta find something for the fingers.
Sounds crazy, but I should have guessed there was a group dedicated to winter riding. Enter the Bike Winter folks. Cool though that they’re so close to home with groups in Chicago, Madison, Milwaukee and Ann Arbor, MI.
“While riding in the summer seems normal, cycling through the winter seems, to the uninitiated, as crazy as trying to drive downtown during the Taste of Chicago. However, during many Chicago winter days, the main obstacles are not snow and ice, but simply cold temperatures and wind.”
Send in a SASE and get a free Chicago Bike Winter 2005 sticker, or better yet, support their cause and give them a buck for the effort.
